Help Restore Dignity

Support Women in Crisis Today.

In moments of crisis, every second counts.

For women and girls forced to confront the harsh reality of fleeing conflict or disasters, there is no time to pack essential items.

But hygiene does not wait for crises to end.

In the village of Jabait, in eastern Sudan, one can see hundreds of women waiting for aid at the office of the Women and Children Development Association (WCDA).

Nine months after conflict erupted in Sudan, more than 7.3 million people have fled their homes.

Asmaa Hassan Ali who fled from Darfur, arrived in Port Sudan with some of her relatives including her two daughters. She is staying at the Mohamed Shaybah shelter, which hosts services provided by UN Women.

“We were given hygiene kits, and that was one of the few moments when I felt temporary happiness”, she said. “My daughters and I desperately need these personal and necessary things for us as women.”

Through a partnership with UN Women, the WCDA has supplied Ali and other displaced women and children with hygiene kits, water, household items, and other forms of humanitarian aid.

Soap, sanitary items, and clean underwear are vital to maintain hygiene and restore dignity in the wake of disaster or conflict.

UN Women works on the ground in emergencies providing kits containing the essentials.
